About

The South East Family Freedom Alliance (the Alliance) addresses the harms caused by family policing by establishing a regionally-informed abolition movement hub, with state specific guidance, to: (1) empower families and communities to resist policing and criminalization by child welfare agencies through education and resource-sharing; (2) build power through local and regional organizing campaigns that drive our policy and litigation work; (3) strengthen legislative protections for families through community-led policy change; (4) litigate unconstitutional statutes and policies employed by social services departments that go unchallenged in our states; (5) reclaim community care, support, and resilience by centering family healing from the generational trauma caused by over-policing. Our strategies are responsive to the specific barriers impacting families in the Southeast, particularly the locality-run system that has impeded collective action and government accountability.
