About
At Proactive Families Advocacy Inc., our mission is to provide wrap-around services that are family-centered and culturally competent to families who are currently involved or at risk of involvement with the child protection system. Our vision is all families have the parental right to cultivate a nurturing environment, free from inequality and disparities, with access to fundamental needs of life. And our goal is keeping families together and reducing out-of-home placement by working toward establishing the permanency, safety, and well-being of parent-child relationships by stabilizing and preserving families, providing awareness and quality services when necessary, and assisting families in navigating the system.

Community Defense
Our advocacy work focuses on empowering parents involved with or at risk of involvement with the Department of Children and Families (DCF). We provide direct support through peer advocacy, helping parents understand case plans, navigate complex systems, and use their voices effectively in meetings, court proceedings, and service planning. Beyond individual case support, we also work to build awareness of systemic issues in child welfare, offering training, workshops, and a Certified Parent Advocate Training Program (in development) to equip others to stand alongside families. Our goal is to keep families together, create a strong, informed network of parent advocates who can reduce barriers, promote family reunification, and contribute to meaningful impacts in the child welfare system. People can learn more about our advocacy work by visiting Proactive Families Advocacy Inc.’s platforms, where we share resources, updates, and opportunities for involvement. Community members, professionals, and allies can connect with us through outreach events, trainings, or by reaching out directly to the organization. Those who want to support can do so by partnering with us, volunteering their time, contributing resources, or amplifying our mission so that more parents and families know they are not alone. Together, we are here to stay and build a movement that centers parents’ voices and strengthens families.

Healing & Wellness
Our peer support and wellness offerings are designed to provide parents with both emotional support and practical guidance as they navigate the child welfare system. Through our programs, parents can access one-on-one peer support from trained advocates who have lived experience, helping them feel understood and less isolated. We accompany parents to meetings, help them prepare for court and DCF reviews, and provide space to process challenges and celebrate progress. In addition to advocacy, we also focus on wellness supports such as stress management, resource navigation, and community connections that strengthen parents’ overall stability and well-being. Our approach is grounded in empowerment and the belief that parents deserve compassionate, nonjudgmental support. People can learn more about our offerings by visiting our outreach materials and organizational platforms, where we share program details, upcoming groups/events, and opportunities to connect. Parents seeking support can access services by completing a simple intake process, either online or by contacting us directly. Participation is flexible, with options for individualized peer sessions, advocacy in meetings, and community-based wellness activities. Those who are interested can also join our programs through referrals from community partners or by reaching out personally. Our goal is to make support accessible, welcoming, and responsive to each parent and family’s unique needs.
