Movement for Family Power
About
Founded in 2018, Movement for Family Power (MFP) is the first national organization focused on abolishing the family policing system and serves as a movement hub and incubator, cultivating and harnessing community power to end family policing and build a world where all families can thrive. We resource and support grassroots organizers and lived experts on the frontlines of dismantling the family policing system through our three-pronged approach: connection, capacity, and care.
We envision a world rooted in racial and reproductive justice–where all families are protected from state violence and forced separation; where the dignity and bodily autonomy of every pregnant, birthing, and parenting person is upheld; and where all families and communities receive essential resources to nurture our relationships and keep us safe.
Support
-
Technical Assistance
We build capacity across the family policing abolition movement by providing hands-on technical assistance, amplifying base and power building projects, and investing in the leadership and sustainability of lived experts and grassroots organizers.
-
Community Defense
We defend frontline activists facing retaliation for their liberatory work. We support and expand models of mutual aid, transformative justice, and collective care to protect families from surveillance, criminalization, and family separation.
-
Mutual Aid
We prioritize moving resources directly to the movement through regranting, fellowships, and mutual aid. In 2025, MFP launched the THRIVE Fund, a first-of-its-kind mutual aid and capacity building fund for the movement to end family policing.

Policy & Advocacy
We break down complex legal and policy frameworks, demystifying the law for communities most impacted. We have incubated and served on the planning committee for national and state-wide narrative and legislative campaigns, including the New York Informed Consent Coalition, Repeal ASFA, Black Mothers March, and Stolen Children’s Month.
