Iowa Family Rights
About
We believe that every family deserves the opportunity to thrive, and family preservation should always be the priority! Iowa Family Rights was founded by a mom who knows firsthand the injustice and heartbreak of losing her parental rights. Her experience fuels our mission: to empower families across Iowa with the advocacy, guidance, tools, and resources they need long before intervention becomes necessary. Instead of waiting for something to go wrong and punishing parents that are already struggling, we recognize the need to shift the focus to prevention. We are not like most organizations. We are not a “part of the system,” and we do not receive funding from official agencies.
Support
-
Healing & Wellness
We engaging directly with families to provide support and guidance; assist with a wide range of needs in the home, from cleaning and organizing to small home repairs and yard work at little to no cost; create personalized strategies to address issues before they escalate; and share tools and support to facilitate co-parenting.
-
Community Defense
We have comprehensive guides designed to help parents prevent allegations of abuse and understand how to respond if child welfare services become involved, and we host Know Your Rights Workshops to educate families on their legal rights in the child welfare system. We also offer direct assistance for families dealing with the child welfare system, offering both practical advice and emotional support.
-
Policy & Advocacy
We work to influence policies that promote family preservation and child welfare reform, addressing the root causes of child welfare interventions by promoting understanding, reducing stigma, and advocating for early family support.
